Beechworth Kindergarten is located in the beautiful parks and gardens of the Mayday Hills Complex on Boundary Road, Beechworth. Kindergarten sessions are available during school terms for both 3 year old and 4 year old programs.

    4 Year Old Program - 15 hours of fully funded kindergarten, over two days - with the option to pay for up to 19.5 hours of extra hours over three additional days.
    3 Year Old Program - 15 hours of fully funded kindergarten, over two days - with the option to pay for an additional day of 4.5 hours.

Program Overview

4 year Old Program

We offer 15 hours of fully funded kindergarten. We also offer an extra/optional half day and full day of sessional kindergarten for a fee. This enables children to attend up to 25.5 hours of kindergarten. Children must turn 4 years of age before the 30th April to attend.

2025 Session Times

Funded hours - Monday & Tuesday 8.30am – 4.00pm (15 hours, inclusive of Bush Kinder)

Optional Non funded hours - Wednesday 8.30am – 4.00pm & Thursday 8.30am – 1.00pm and Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm

3 year Old Program

In 2024 we offer 12 hours of fully funded 3 year old kindergarten, with this moving up to 15 hours in 2025. Children must turn 3 years of age before 30th April to attend.

2025 Session Times

Funded hours - Wednesday & Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm (15 hours)

Optional Non funded hours - Thursday 8.30am - 1.00pm

Bush Kinder

During term 2 and 3, our 4 year old program incorporates a Bush Kinder session that runs on Tuesday in 2025.

Children have the opportunity to leave the conventional classroom and immerse themselves in the beautiful picturesque surroundings that are Mayday Hills.

Research has shown that benefits of Bush Kinder include:

  • Increased social, physical and language skills.
  • Deeper conceptual understandings and respect for the natural environment.
  • Increased social and imaginative play.
  • More varied risk-taking behaviours and positive dispositions towards risk and challenge.

Fees

In 2025, sessional kindergarten services that participate in the Victorian Government’s ‘Free Kinder’ program receive a per child payment to provide a free, 15-hour kindergarten program.

This payment is made in full for Four-Year-Old programs of 15 hours.

This payment is prorated for Three-Year-Old programs of less than 15 hours.

Details

In 2025 Beechworth Kindergarten is offering additional hours beyond the ‘Free Kinder’ program for our 4 year olds and 3 year olds. These services will attract an additional fee payable by families and invoiced accordingly.

Participation in any additional program hours are entirely optional - families can choose to participate in the free program content only.
